Amazon triples charity donations through AmazonSmile

Amazon is tripling UK charity donations through AmazonSmile for a limited time this month.

From 15-29 June, Amazon will be tripling its usual donation of 0.5 per cent to 1.5 per cent of the net purchase price to the charity of the customer’s choice, with over 6,000 charities to choose from.

AmazonSmile provides charities with a platform to increase donations through Amazon’s online shoppers. Customers who shop on AmazonSmile can choose a charity to support before they start shopping and that charity will receive donations from Amazon at no additional cost to the customer or charity.

6,000 charities are already participating in AmazonSmile, including CLIC Sargent, RSPCA, WWF, Stonewall Equality, Barnardo’s, Cancer Research UK, The British Red Cross and The Royal British Legion.

All eligible registered UK charities are invited to take part, providing they are in good standing with the Charity Commission.

“We launched smile.amazon.co.uk in November 2017 and now with more than 6,000 national and local charities available, everyone should be able to find a good cause close to their heart,” AmazonSmile’s EU manager Jan Lakotta said.

“We’re delighted that so many organisations are already benefitting and we encourage other charities, large and small, to enrol so customers can select them to receive donations from Amazon.”
