Barnardo's director to head up fundraising and communications at WaterAid

Barnardo’s director of fundraising Jennie York is to join WaterAid to head up its fundraising and communications.

Her move to WaterAid marks a return for York, who previously worked at the global sanitation charity for five years and led its direct marketing team.

Her previous roles have included director of supporter and communities at Save the Children UK before her current role at Barnardo’s.

“Jennie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from her range of experience in the not-for-profit sector, together with a strong collaborative leadership style, which will be vital as we continue our work towards a world where everyone everywhere has clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene,” said WaterAid chief executive Tim Wainwright.

On re-joining WaterAid, as director of fundraising and communications, York said: “After several years away, I am extremely excited to be coming back into the WaterAid family. The organisation and its people have always held a special place in my heart and I am thrilled to be able to bring all I have learned from my time away back with me.

“I have been following the fantastic work and achievements of the fundraising and ommunications department for many years and believe with this strong team we can achieve even more, both nationally and globally.”
