Snowdonia charity given £3m to expand across UK

The Outdoor Partnership, a charity that promotes outdoor pursuits in Snowdonia, has been granted just £3m from The National Lottery Community Fund to expand its activities across the UK.

The charity offers equipment and qualifications in outdoor activities such as climbing and kayaking to help people who live in Snowdonia find jobs in outdoor activities.

The National Lottery fund has awarded the charity £2,920,420 to recreate the work it is currently doing in the Snowdonia area in other mountain communities across the UK.

Projects will be launched using the grant in East Ayrshire in Scotland, Newry in Northern Island and Cumbia in England.

The aim of the projects is to encourage more people who live in rural areas to be more involved in outdoor activities. The plan is to ensure more local people are finding benefits in the activities that typically just attract tourists.
