Mermaids
Trans youth charity Mermaids has appointed Johanna Hardy, the former head of services at single parents’ organisation Gingerbread, to be its next chief executive.
She takes up the new role in November after spending almost six years until April this year at Gingerbread.
Hardy has also held senior roles at Young Minds, Contact and Mencap.
Kidney Reearch UK
Kidney Research UK has appointed Dr David Crosby as its new chief research officer.
With a background in academia and a PhD in platelet biology, he joins from Cancer Research UK, where he led the organisation’s prevention and early detection research. He has previously worked in industry, with the Medical Research Council, and the UK Government as part of the Office for Life Sciences.
Shakespeare Martineau
Due to increased demand for its services, full-service law firm Shakespeare Martineau has expanded its national charities team with the appointment of Ruo Wu as a legal director.
With more than 20 years of experience in the charities sector, including over a decade of legal expertise, Wu has worked both in-house and in private practice. She joins the firm from Winckworth Sherwood LLP, where she was a senior associate in the charities and social enterprises team.
The Principle Trust
Yorkshire-based children’s charity, The Principle Trust, has announced the appointment of Jamie Kemp, Platform Director at online training and compliance provider High Speed Training, as its new trustee for Marketing and Communications.
In his new voluntary role, he brings a wealth of experience in marketing and communications from a business-to-business perspective, helping to guide the charity’s strategic outreach and awareness efforts.
Women for Women International
Women for Women International (WfWI) has appointed Thelma Ekiyor as Global CEO. With 25 years in international development, Ekiyor has led pioneering initiatives across Africa, including co-founding SME.NG, Nigeria’s largest women’s accelerator, and chairing the Nigeria Office for Philanthropy and Impact Investing. She has held leadership roles at Afrigrants, TY Danjuma Foundation, and WACSI in Ghana. Her cross-sector experience and dedication to women’s empowerment position her to lead WfWI into a bold new chapter.
