The YMCA’s development agency Y Care International, which was founded by humanitarian Terry Waite, has launched a formal partnership with felllow Christian NGO All We Can.
The move will see Y Care International’s staff join All We Can’s team.
Under the arrangement All We Can will fulfil all Y Care’s services and Y Care will remain as a separate charitable body.
“Through this new way of working, both charities will be able to magnify efforts to challenge poverty and injustice around the world, by working in partnership and championing locally-led solutions,” said a statement from All We Can and Y Care International.
Y Care’s president Terry Waite, who was held captive in Lebanon for four years from 1987 to 1991 when he was an envoy for then Archbishop of Canterbury Robert Runcie, said: “This development enhances the potential for Y Care International to expand its work – ensuring that marginalised youth can continue to develop their skills, access trainings and employment opportunities, and see their potential fulfilled in all areas of their lives.”
All We Can chief executive Graeme Hodge, who takes the role across both charities, added: “We have had the pleasure of getting to know Y Care International over the past couple of years, sharing All We Can’s partnership approach and exploring opportunities for collaboration.
“This development is the next step in that relationship, and represents a deepening commitment to effective partnership."
