The Brain Charity announces next CEO

The Brain Charity has appointed Matt Meaney as its next chief executive.

He joins the support charity for people with neurological conditions later this month from baby hospice Zoe’s Place, where he has been head of fundraising for the last six years.

This is his second role leading a charity, after spending two years as CEO of Wirral Mencap until 2020.

"I’m absolutely thrilled to join The Brain Charity,” said Meaney.

“From my first conversations with the team and my visit to the centre, it was clear what a special place this is—full of passion, expertise and a genuine commitment to improving people’s lives.

“I’m really looking forward to getting started, meeting more of the community we support, and working together to grow the Charity’s reach and impact in the years ahead."

He replaces Pippa Sargent, who led the charity for two years until last year.

The Liverpool headquartered national charity’s chair Gus Baker added: “Matt brings significant experience from across the voluntary sector and impressed the Board with his thoughtful approach, collaborative spirit and commitment to our mission.

“I look forward to working with him as we guide the Charity through its next stage of development.”
