Match funder announces details of women and girls campaign

Match funding platform Big Give has announced details of this year’s annual fundraiser aimed at supporting women and girls and tackling gender inequality.

The week-long campaign is launch on International Day of the Girl on 11 October. Applications are open until 23 June for charities to take part.

Through the platform donations are matched by grantmakers including the Department for Culture,Media and Sport, People’s Postcode Lottery, EQ Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation, The Reed Foundation, The Waterloo Foundation, The Hospital Saturday Fund, The Childhood Trust and philanthropists Julia and Hans Rausing’s trust. .

Last year’s women and girls match funding campaign reaised more than £2m for 121 charities, including Women’s Aid and Bloody Good Period. This involved 8,439 public donations.

“Women and girls make up half of the world’s population, yet the charities focused on supporting them often go underfunded,” said Big Give managing director Alex Day.

“Our campaign aims to provide funding to charities that are at the forefront of the issues facing women and girls, such as domestic abuse, gender inequality in the workplace, and period poverty.”



Earlier this month Big Give, which also runs the Christmas Challenge and Green Match Fund campaigns, set a target of raising £1bn by 2030.
