Health charity rebrands to boost exposure

The British Tinnitus Association has rebranded as Tinnitus UK to improve its reach in supporting people impacted by the hearing condition.

The name change is accompanied by a refresh of its website and a focus on offering chatbot support for people with Tinnitus, who are affected by a ringing in the ear.

“This new name puts tinnitus first, because taking on tinnitus is the main reason we’re here, and we want everyone to know that,” said the charity’s CEO Deanne Thomas.

“Becoming Tinnitus UK will help us reach more people with tinnitus, be more visible and raise more awareness of this condition which can have a significant impact on people’s quality of life.”

She added that the charity’s focus on digital support will also mean it can target people with tinnitus at night when the condition can worsen. This includes 24 hour a day free chatbot support to signpost further help.

“Our new website makes it easier for people to navigate, to engage with Tinnitus UK and to find areas of support that suits them.”

The charity launched as the British Tinnitus Association in 1979 and had also been known as the BTA by its supporters.

Tinnitus UK chair Lynne Gillon said: “This marks the start of a very exciting period for the charity, as we build on our past successes and strive to reach even more people who may be struggling with tinnitus - moving nearer to our vision of: Creating a world where no one suffers with tinnitus.”
