Deloitte senior partner to lead Dormant Assets oversight body

Deloitte senior partner Mike Barber has been appointed to be the next chief executive of The Oversight Trust, the independent body that oversees work of the organisations distributing Dormant Assets money.

He takes over at the Trust from next month from outgoing CEO Alastair Ballantyne, who is retiring.

Oversight Trust chair Vaughan Lindsay said: “Mike’s depth of experience, values-led leadership, and clear strategic focus make him exceptionally well suited to lead the organisation into its next phase.

“We are excited by his appointment and are confident he will build on the Trust’s strong foundations and support its long-term mission.

“We also want to pay tribute to Alastair Ballantyne who has been instrumental in setting up, developing and steering the Trust and wish him all the best in his retirement.”

Barber, who is also a former chair of the Royal Institute of Blind People’s audit and risk committee, added: “The Oversight Trust plays a vital role in upholding confidence, integrity, and effective governance.

“I look forward to working with the Board, partners, and stakeholders to advance the Trust’s purpose and ensure it continues to deliver meaningful impact.

The organisations that The Oversight Trust oversees are Better Society Capital, Access- The Foundation for Social Investment, Youth Futures Foundation, and Fair4All Finance.

The Trust looks at their governance, strategic planning, social impact, transparency and to provide guidance if needed.
