Cystic Fibrosis Trust appoints new chief executive

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust has today announced its new chief executive as Ed Owen.

Owen has been the Trust's Interim chief executive since May and takes over the permanent position following a competitive selection process.

Announcing the appointment, CF Trust Chairman, George Jenkins OBE said: "We are delighted to appoint Ed to the permanent position. His personal dedication and commitment to people with cystic fibrosis is well known, and he brings vital leadership skills at this important time.

"The Trust is making a real difference to the lives of those with cystic fibrosis and we are striving to become even more effective.

"We are developing a new research strategy, improving our communications and investing in new, innovative fundraising techniques to reach new sources of money for our work. It is an exciting time for the Trust and Ed is the best person to lead us through it."

Owen is a senior communications specialist and former Government adviser, and was a trustee of the charity between 2004 and 2012.

He was, until May of this year, a partner at Maitland Political.

Ed Owen said: "It is a great privilege to be asked to lead the Trust at this time. It is a fantastic organisation that has helped me and my family just as it helped and continues to help countless others affected by cystic fibrosis

"The Trust's work relies on the commitment of thousands of families, volunteers and supporters working tirelessly to raise funds and increase awareness of cystic fibrosis. I pay tribute to all of them, and hope to repay their dedication and support as we bring in new measures to help us grow and develop over the coming months and years."
