Blind Veterans UK
Blind Veterans UK has announced the appointment of Giles Peel as its new chair of trustees.

He previously served as chair of Combat Stress from 2019 until last year. Before that he chaired RFEA Ltd, The Forces Employment Charity.

He has built extensive governance expertise in all the major UK sectors. He manages his own company advising on risk, regulatory and strategic governance, and has held executive and non-executive roles across, financial services, legal, NHS and veterans’ organisations. He also currently chairs ABTA’s Appeals Board.  In his first career, Giles served for 20 years in the Royal Navy. 

City of Hull Street Angels
The City of Hull Street Angels has announced the appointment of Lee Pearson as vice-chair of the board of trustees.

Pearson brings valuable experience and a strong understanding of the charity’s work, and his appointment is expected to further strengthen governance and strategic leadership.

Kids
Kids has announced the appointment of Mark Devlin as the new chair of its board of trustees. He succeeds Sam Bowerman, who has served as Interim Chair since July 2025 and will remain on the board, resuming her position as Vice Chair.

Devlin brings extensive experience in senior leadership roles across the public and charity sectors, including serving as CEO of Young Epilepsy and chief operating officer at Unicef UK.

He also currently serves as chair of St Martin‑in‑the‑Fields Charity and the Froebel Trust, and has previously held trusteeships with the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health and other charities working with children and young people.

Starlight
Starlight has appointed Laura Walsh as director of play in Healthcare.

She has stepped up from her role as head of play at Starlight a position she has held since joining the charity in September 2021, to join the senior management team as a director.

Prior to joining Starlight, she was head of play services at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) from 2018 to 2021.

Start Strong
Start Strong, a new narrative partnership which aims to unite the nation around the importance of giving every child the best start in life, has announced the appointment of Sally Hogg as executive director and Richard Pennycook CBE as non-executive chair.

The initiative, supported by a coalition of leading philanthropic foundations including Ethos Foundation, Collective Futures, Impact on Urban Health, Nesta and The Tessa Jowell Foundation, aims to shift societal understanding and drive long-term, positive change for all babies and young children across the UK.

Hogg brings over 15 years' experience in charities, academia and government championing babies, young children and their families. Most recently, she served as assistant director at the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood and was previously deputy chief executive of the Parent-Infant Foundation.

V Foundation for Cancer Research
The V Foundation for Cancer Research has named Brandi Williams Broome as CEO, effective March 16.

Broome joins the V Foundation from the American Diabetes Association, where she served as chief development and delivery officer. Prior to her time there, she spent 20 years with the American Heart Association.

War on Want
War on Want has appointed feminist social justice campaigner Liz McKean to the role of Executive Director, with immediate effect.

She previously held the role of War on Want’s director of campaigns, policy and international programmes for the past eight years.

Prior to War on Want, McKean worked at Amnesty International UK as programme director. And was the director and co-founder of the UK End Violence Against Women Coalition.
