Oxfam

Oxfam GB has confirmed the appointment of Richard Hawkes as its new interim chief executive.

He joins the organisation after ten years as CEO of the British Asian Trust and brings more than three decades of senior leadership experience across UK charities, including CEO roles at Scope and Sense International, International Programmes Director at VSO, and chair of BOND.

He will serve an initial twelve‑month term, as recruitment for a permanent CEO for the charity continues.

Royal Voluntary Service

National volunteering charity Royal Voluntary Service has announced three new celebrity Ambassadors: TV and radio presenter Gaby Roslin, disability campaigner and TV personality Tasha Ghouri, and TV presenter, author, actor and singer Tom Read Wilson.

The Charity Commission for England and Wales

Lisa Nandy, secretary of state for DCMS has appointed Kate Sayer as board member and chair of the audit and risk assurance committee to the Charity Commission for England and Wales for a term of three years.

Sayer is a qualified chartered accountant, and was part of the founding team of Sayer Vincent, a professional audit and advisory firm specialising in social purpose organisations.

She also contributed to the development of charity accounting through membership of the Charities SORP Committee for 15 years. In addition, from January 2020 to December 2023, Kate was Oxfam’s first director of integrity and ethics.
