Sidemen more than double last year’s charity football match fundraising total

This year’s annual football match fundraiser organised by Youtubers the Sidemen has raised £2.4m for charities including the Teenage Cancer Trust, more than double last year’s tally of £1m.

Due to the popularity of last year’s event this year’s fundraiser, which saw 170,000 queue online for tickets, was moved from Charlton Atheltic’s 25,000 capacity ground in the capital to West Ham’s 62,000-seater London Stadium this time around.

The match took place on Saturday and involved a Sidemen team, including its members KSI, Miniminter, Zerkaa, Behzinga, Vikkstar123, TBJZL and Wroetoshaw, against a team of Youtube Allstars, featuring celebrities including Chunkz, Jacksepticeye and Chris MD.

The stream of the charity match has so far garnered 19m views on Youtube.

As with last year’s event the charities to share this year’s fundraising total along with Teenage Cancer Trust, are mental health charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), children’s charity rays of Sunshine and young people’s charity m7 education.

This year’s match was won by the Sidemen team 8-5.

KSI said that the fundraising total at the sell out event “makes me so happy”. He added: “Honestly, love our fanbase”.

Teenage Cancer Trust chief executive Kate Collins described the match as “fantastic” and especially thanked the charity’s ambassador and Sidemen group member Ethan Payne (Behzinga).

She said the Youtube stars taking part are “life changers for young people with cancer”.

The Sidemen group started as online ‘gamer’ friends ten years ago and now have a range of channels on Youtube, with millions of subscribers.

Their football charity matches have been staged since 2016.
