Reading charity promotes its head of school support to CEO

Bookmark Reading Charity’s head of schools Emily Jack has been promoted to chief executive.

Her promotion follows work at the literacy charity leading work in schools to target disadvantaged children and its digital transformation work.

She replaces Graihagh Crawshaw-Sadler who left in July after just 10 months in the role. He has since been appointed as chief executive of teacher training charity Now Teach.

“I am very excited about this wonderful opportunity as I have loved my time at Bookmark to date,” said Jack, who is a qualified teacher and is a former director of the Tutor’s Association.

“With the support of our chair, board of trustees, Bookmark team and brilliant network of supporters, I look forward to leading the team to implement our plans for future growth; building on our solid foundations to increase the depth and reach of our services, our impact and, most importantly, the number of children supported.

“Bookmark’s mission is very close to my heart - all children must be enabled to experience the joy of reading to have a fairer start in life.”

The charity’s chair Sharon Pindar added: “As an established member of the Bookmark family and with her extensive experience in the education sector and her proven track record to inspire, lead and execute, we are confident that Emily will excel in her new role as CEO.”
