Online resource aims to showcase philanthropy’s impact

A website has launched to collect and showcase examples of the impact that philanthropy is making to charities and the lives of the people they support.

Called The Giving Record, it has been set up through a partnership involving the think tank Why Philanthropy Matters, funder the Rory and Elizabeth Brooks Foundation and Greenwood Place, a firm that helps wealthy families to donate.

The website features stories from charities, community groups and arts organisations about the difference philanthropy has made to their work.

Organisers are also keen to publish further stories to add to the online resource.

To address the lack of compelling narratives, we set out to collect stories about the difference that philanthropy has made in the UK to the lives of people and communities around the country; and to the work of charities, community groups, arts organisations and educational institutions,” they said.

“We have collected an initial group of diverse and inspiring stories from around the country that we are sharing for anyone to use.

“We are also offering an invitation that if you have been inspired and want to share your own story about the difference philanthropy has made, you can do so through this website.”

Among stories featured is how family funder the Moondance Foundation has supported two charities tackling poverty in Wales, Purple Shoots and Baobab Bach.
