Mental health match funding campaign aims to raise £1.5m

A match funding campaign taking place this week is aiming to raise £1.5m for 180 mental health charities.

The Kind2Mind campaign is being run by match funding platform Big Give, which accesses funding from philanthropists, and coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week (15-22 May).

The campaign is now in its second year and raised a total of £316,500 and has grown for 2023 with £810,000 of matched funding available.

“We are delighted with the response from our philanthropic donor champions who have really increased their commitment to this important campaign,” said Big Give managing director Alex Day.

“We are in the midst of a mental health crisis, especially among young people, and the charities we work with are reporting unprecedented demand for their services which highlights the fundraising need more than ever.”

Among charities taking back is Amber Foundation, whose patrons include Youtube fitness celebrity Joe Wicks.

“We are experiencing a mental health crisis, made worse by the long tail of the pandemic,” said Wicks.

“We need to do all we can to address the fact that many people are facing long waits for care and often cannot access the right treatment. The charities taking part in this Big Give campaign are all doing vital work on the front line and, in many cases, literally saving lives.

“The fact that all the money they raise over the week of the campaign will be doubled is incredible and will make such a difference.”
