Late filing animal rescue charity issued with official warning

A dog rescue charity that failed to file its annual accounts on time for five consecutive years has been issued with an official warning by the Charity Commission.

In addition to ordering the charity to file its accounts on time it has asked it to appoint additional trustees to support its governance.

The regulator has warned the charity, UK German Shepherd Rescue Angels, that if it fails to comply further regulatory acrtion may be taken.

It is a basic trustee duty to file their charity’s annual accounting information,” said the Commission’s assistant director of casework Tracy Howarth.

“This ensures that charities can be transparent and accountable to the public, the information also provides important information to help the Commission regulate and support charities better.

“I hope that this Official Warning and the prescribed actions help this charity get back on track.”

According to the Charities Register the charity’s accounts are now 957 days late and has just two trustees listed, with 150 volunteers working for it.

The last listed financial information shows that its income for the year ending December 2018 was £70,000 and its total spending was £68,000.

It works to educate, rescue, rehabilitate and rehome German Shepherds and their cross breeds across the UK and was formed in 2010 in the North West of England and later expanding UK wide, as well as in Ireland.
