Insurer reopens diversity and inclusion fund for small charities

Zurich Municipal has announced it is to run its diversity and inclusion award scheme for small charities for a second year.

The funding backs initiatives carried out by small charities to promote promote diversity and inclusion in their areas.

Only charities with annual incomes up to £100,000 can apply.

A total of £18,000 is being made available, with £10,000 to the winning charity, with second and third place prizes of £5,000 and £3,000.

The deadline to apply is midnight on 30 September.

Last year’s winner, Spark Inside, was handed funding for a coaching programme focused on supporting Black and mixed heritage men in prison with their rehabilitation, both while in custody and after release.

Two other initiatives to be handed funding were a birth partner project, supporting women who would otherwise face birth alone, and a befriending scheme connecting young people with elderly residents.

“I’m so pleased to see our diversity and inclusion awards back for a second year,” said Zurich UK diversity and inclusion council member Yvonne Moore.

“Charitable organisations play a crucial role in shaping our society and, when it comes to ensuring everyone feels valued and included, it’s often dedicated people working within their communities who can make the biggest difference

“We saw hundreds of inspiring entries in 2024 and I’m looking forward to reading through many more this year.

“I’d encourage small charities to use this opportunity to share their stories and showcase how they’re promoting representation and a sense of belonging to help create a more inclusive world.”.
