Charity representatives in Scotland are being urged to sign up to a training programme to help charities be more environmentally friendly.
The Circular Economy 360+ programme of online and in-person training is being funded by Zero Waste Scotland and delivered by Social Investment Scotland (SIS).
It aims to give charity leaders support in developing their green initiatives, including reusing materials, reducing waste and recycling. Being covered is latest policy and legislation and consumer attitudes as well as offering one to one support.
The training scheme has limited registrations for up to 15 people, with applications closing this week (19 April).
“Sustainability is high on the agenda for consumers and funders alike, and in the coming years it will only become a more important factor for social enterprises and charities,” said Social Investment Scotland head of market building Kieran Daly.
“One company or sector’s waste can be another’s gold, but it can be tricky knowing how to develop a successful strategy. We have specifically designed this support programme to help people take the first steps in starting or scaling up ideas.”
The course is being led by SIS associate Naomi Johnson, who has been involved in managing environmental operations for more than 25 years.
“Having started my career in recycling and going on to work across the circular economy, it’s great to be sharing knowledge and expertise with third-sector leaders who can make a big difference in terms of social and environmental impact,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to working with people who are ambitious about making a positive difference, as well as inspirational industry experts who can share wisdom and guidance about turning circular plans into reality.”
The training programme takes place from 10 May to 29 June.
