Financial services firm offers more than £1m worth of grants to charities

Financial services company Benefact Group has announced the launch of its annual Movement for Good Awards, with £1m worth of grants available to charities in UK and Ireland this year.

Half the pot has been allocated for £10,000 grants, to be handed out later this year. In addition, £200,000 of the funding pot has been earmarked for £5,000 grants.

The rest of the money is being handed out in £1,000 grants across the year. Of these 150 will be given away in June, a further 150 in September and 120 in December.

The grants will be awarded to charities nominated by the public and then chosen at random. The Group stresses that “the most times a charity is nominated the more chance it has of being selected”.

The Benefact Group, which is the third largest corporate donor, includes the Ecclesiastical UK and Ansvar UK financial services brands.

“We are immensely proud to be supporting many hundreds of charities through our Movement for Good Awards for the fifth year running,” said Benefact Group chief executive Mark Hews.

“We know that £1,000 can make a huge difference so we’re asking that people give a minute of their time to nominate a cause they care about to receive an award.”

He added: “With financial strain continuing to impact many households the Movement for Good Awards represents a great way for people to continue to support causes close to their hearts, without worrying about an additional cost. Any charity can win no matter how large or small and even with just one nomination.”
