Clinical chief takes charge at bereavement charity

Grief Encounter has promoted its director of clinical services to be its next chief executive.

Suzy Turner Jones takes charge this month after joining in January last year to lead clinical work at the charity, which supports bereaved young people.

“I am honoured and privileged to take on the role of CEO at Grief Encounter,” said Turner Jones.

“I am committed to upholding the organisation’s mission of providing bereavement support services to those who need them most, and I’m excited to work alongside such a dedicated, passionate, and talented staff, continuing to offer comfort to children and families who are grieving.”

The charity’s chair Harold Gittelmon added: “We have undergone a period of change and growth over the last six months, and I am confident Suzy’s leadership skills, and vast industry knowledge, will be invaluable as we continue to expand our reach and impact across the country.”

Also this month the charity has announced that its head of fundraising Lou Scott has been promoted to director of fundraising and deputy CEO.

She said: “I am incredibly grateful that, in addition to my responsibility of leading fundraising at Grief Encounter, that I will also work closely with Suzy to further contribute to our mission of supporting those affected by grief.

“I am excited to continue to build upon our successes and thank my dedicated team whose continued hard work and commitment enable us to confidently plan the positive impact we can bring to the lives of so many families and individuals.”
