Children’s charity rebrands after splitting from global federation

SOS Children’s Villages UK has relaunched under the new name Right to Childhood, seven months after leaving the SOS children’s Villages Federation.

The charity left the global network amid differing views on support, with the UK charity wanting to help families stay together rather than offer ‘family like care’ for children.

Since the split the charity has ended child sponsorships, streamlined its programme offer, developed new safeguarding and due diligence processes around its partnerships globally.

The brand development, which has been led by Studio Texture with Brand Dufour, involves the new name, brand and logo aimed at reflecting the charity’s “move towards a more contemporary, bolder identity”, it said.

“Millions of children globally are separated from their families every year due to poverty, death and disasters. We are here to help those children when they need us most,” said Right to Childhood’s chief executive Alison Wallace.

She added: “Our new name reflects our long-standing commitment to putting children’s experiences at the heart of everything we do, because being separated from family doesn’t just disrupt a childhood, it can have a devastating impact on later life.

“We look forward to growing our voice in the UK, because we believe that by standing together, we can defend every child’s right to childhood, no matter where they’re from.”
