Children’s charity interim boss takes role permanently

Rays of Sunshine, which supports seriously ill children, has handed the chief executive role to its interim boss Cheryl Tissot on a permanent basis.

The charity appointed director of strategy and development Tissot as interim boss last November and has this month confirmed that she will continue as permanent CEO.

Tissot is a former charity CEO, having led Pets As Therapy. She replaces Rays of Sunshine’s last permanent CEO Michele Afif.

“I’m very excited and honoured to be leading Rays of Sunshine,” said Tissot, who has also worked at Microsoft, Invesco Asset Management and Gilead Sciences.

“I want to thank our board, trustees, supporters, donors and the fabulous team at Rays of Sunshine for their support. I’m grateful to have such a wonderful team working with me, and I look forward to supporting them to deliver even more magical wishes and events for seriously ill children across the UK in the future.”

Rays of Sunshine chair Stephen Allan added: “In the last three months, Cheryl has more than proved her dedication to our wonderful charity, and her ability to lead it with warmth and confidence.

“On behalf of all the charity’s staff, trustees and executive board, we thank Cheryl for accepting the role, and look forward to seeing her flourish in it.”
