Charity tackling youth violence appoints new CEO

Safer London has appointed Rosemary Watt-Wyness as its next chief executive.

She takes up the role at the charity, which tackle youth violence in the capital, this week after a stint as its interim chief operating officer.

She is a former chief executive of young people’s charity London Youth, a former director of services and support at MS Society and was director of strategy and for the south of England at the King’s Trust.

“I am honoured to join Safer London and to lead an organisation with such a crucial mission,” said Watt-Wyness, who is also a former youth worker supporting children at risk of being excluded from school.

“I’ve long admired Safer London’s commitment to improving the lives of young Londoners and families impacted by violence and exploitation, and I look forward to working alongside the team, partners and young Londoners themselves to build on this important work.”

Safer London chair Janine McDowell added: “Having joined Safer London on an interim basis as COO we are excited that Rosemary will now bring her warm, inspiring and engaging leadership style to the team as CEO.

“I look forward to seeing what she can achieve in building on the success of Safer London in impacting the lives of young Londoners”.
