Louise Hill has this week joined Scotland based charity Children’s Parliament as its director.
She joins from Children First, where she was head of policy, evidence and impact.
“I am excited to be taking up this wonderful opportunity to lead the work of such a respected organisation,” said Hill.
“I am passionate about the unique role Children’s Parliament plays in supporting a cultural shift in environments in which children live, learn and play and which sees children’s human rights being realised.
“There are many challenges for the sector and I am looking forward to joining the team to listen, learn and work together to ensure Children’s Parliament continues to inspire and make a difference in the lives of children across Scotland.”
Children’s Parliament chair Ann Henderson added: “Louise impressed us through the recruitment process with her clear focus and strategic vision that we are sure will support Children’s Parliament’s continued development and impact.”
Hill replaces Children’s Parliament’s founding director Cathy McCullock, who will leave at the end of May following a handover period.
“It’s no small thing to hand over the reins of Children’s Parliament after more than 30 years of seeing it grow to become the organisation it is today,” said McCullock.
“However, I am very happy to be handing over to Louise who is so widely respected by me and many across the sector. I know Louise will carry the legacy of the past 30 years with her as she supports the next phase of Children’s Parliament’s journey.”
