The founding executive director of a charity that supports people impacted by unemployment, homelessness and poor health, has announced he is to move on after 28 years in the role.
John Hinton launched the charity Move On, which helps people in the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas, in 1997 as its first executive director.
He said he will leave in May after making the “difficult decision given my length of service” adding that “I have decided that the time is now right for me to pursue new opportunities”.
He added: “Looking forwards, a change in leadership will doubtless bring new ideas and energy for Move On, ensuring services will continue to develop and deliver significant impact.
“On a personal note, I am excited about the prospect of life after Move On and am starting to consider my next opportunity/role.”
Prior to setting up the charity Hinton spent around a year as chief executive of the Social Iceberg Foundation in Edinburgh, and just under two years as a housing resettlement project manager for Big Issue in Scotland.
The charity said that Hinton has “served as the executive director with distinction and dedication since founding the organisation in 1997, supporting numerous individuals in transforming their lives and realising their potential”.
It added that “the search for a successor who will continue to uphold and advance the mission of Move On is anticipated to commence shortly”.
