Building society foundation offers small grants to local charities

Lancashire based Marsden Building Society Charitable Foundation has opened applications for charities in the county to apply for grants of £3,000.

The Foundation has set aside £30,000 for 10 or more local charities and groups whose projects are focused on financial education, community projects supporting the over 50s age group, and protecting the environment.

The closing date for applications is 5pm 7 May.

Funding is set to cover staffing, volunteers, activity and operational costs as well as training and small capital items such as computer equipment. Organisational overheads can also be considered.

This is the second year of the fund which is being delivered with support from the Community Foundation for Lancashire.

“We’re committed to supporting organisations that make Lancashire a wonderful place to live, work and retire, said the Building Society’s chief executive Rob Pheasey.

“Since the launch of our Charitable Foundation in 2023, we’ve provided funding for 11 incredible causes. We’re delighted to reopen applications to help even more community groups provide invaluable services to local people.

Kelly Court, programme manager at the county’s community foundation, added; “We at the Community Foundation for Lancashire are delighted to continue working with the Marsden Building Society on the second year of their charitable fund, awarding grant funding to community organisations and projects that can make a real difference to people across Lancashire.”
