Association of Chairs changes web address following cyber attack

The Association of Chairs has changed website addresses after being the victim of a cyber-attack.

The attack on 23 May meant it lost access to its associationofchairs.org.uk domain. It has now moved to the domain associationofchairs.co.uk.

The charity leadership body says “there is no evidence that any personal data has been accessed or compromised” and that member logins are securely held by its partner SheepCRM. Members are advised they can access their resources at https://app.sheepcrm.com/aoc.

“Association of Chairs would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has provided their support over the past few challenging days,” it said.

“We are particularly grateful to our trusted IT suppliers, Ave, sheepCRM, and Transpeed Ltd. Their senior teams remained available over a bank holiday weekend, offering us practical help and personal kindness.

“Their professional guidance and reassurance made a huge difference to our ability to resolve website issues quickly. Choosing to work with reliable and security-focused partners has hugely limited the harm of this attack.”

The Association added that three in ten charities face a cyber-attack each year and that “in time we will share learnings from this experience in the hope of supporting others”.

Earlier this month the Association expanded its charity leadership support with the launch of a membership scheme for boards of trustees.

AoC chair Joe Saxton said there was a need for the organisation to offer support to a wider group of charity leaders rather than only helping individual chairs.
