ActionAid UK’s chief executive Girish Menon is leaving after five years leading the charity.
Menon is to join STiR Education, which supports education in India and Uganda, to ramp up its operations.
Grish will remain in post at Action Aid until the end of 2020 and an interim CEO will be recruited while the charity searches for a successor.
“I will always consider it an absolute privilege to have led ActionAid UK’s work. There is still a long way to go to achieving gender equality but I’m immensely proud of all that we have achieved with women and girls living in poverty,” said Menon.
“After just over five years, I now feel that it’s time for a change and have taken this decision after long and careful consideration. I am deeply passionate about education and am ready to take on a new challenge in that niche. I look forward to seeing ActionAid do even more and scale new heights over the coming months and years.”

While at ActionAid he oversaw the adoption of its fie year strategy in 2017, called Together, with women and girls, to tackle violence and inequality against women and girls.
