Small charities offered grants of up to £60,000 to support disadvantaged communities

The Henry Smith Charity is offering grass roots led charities grants of between £20,000 and £60,000 to support communities.

The funding is for one to three years and available to community led charities and not for profit organisations with an annual income of between £20,000 and £500,000.

The aim of the Strengthening Communities grant programme is to support organisations working within or near to areas of deprivation in the UK.

Running costs are covered in the funding and a decision on applications will be made within six months. The fund has a rolling deadline.

“Through this grant programme we want to make sure that our funding reaches organisations that provide services which are widely accessible to the whole community and respond to and address the needs of the people living in it,” said the Henry Smith Charity.

It added that it is looking for applications from charities with a track record of supporting communities through improving opportunities, wellbeing, and “connectedness”.

Charities with experience of supporting people who are excluded, vulnerable or facing hardship are also welcome.
