Charities urged to take part in digital skills research

Charities are being invited to take part in a major piece of research to assess the digital capabilities of voluntary sector professionals in 2021.

The Charity Digital Skills Report is compiled annually to help build a picture of the digital needs of the charity sector and how digital capability and skills are changing.

The project is run by the Skills Platform and consultancy Zoe Amar Digital, who hope it will provide a benchmark for charities to assess their digital capabilities against each other.

“If you work for a charity or a non-profit organisation based in the UK we’d love to hear your views about your digital skills and support needs,” says the survey.

“Anyone can complete the survey. We ask a range of questions about your organisational priorities, barriers and funding needs, as well as general digital skills and service development.

“It will take around 15 minutes to complete. Your answers are completely confidential and will not be identifiable to you or your organisation.”

A focus will be to ask charities show their use of digital has changed during the Covid-19 pandemic, said Amar.

The survey closes on 31 May and the report’s finding will be published in July.

It is supported by Catalyst, a network of digital experts and funders supporting the charity sector.

Last year's Charity Digital Skills Report found that two thirds of charity leaders lack, or need to improve on, the digital skills needed to ensure their organisation can adapt to challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.
