Scottish Professional Football League seeks first official charity partner

The Scottish Professional Football League is seeking its first ever official charity partner, to work with the organisation over the 2014/15 season.

The successful charity will benefit from the use of the SPFL logo as official partner for the season, and a presence on advertising boards, LED airtime, tickets and other marketing assets in relation to the semi-finals and finals of the Scottish League Cup.

Charitable organisations can apply from today and are being asked to outline how their partnership would see them work with the SPFL’s 42 member clubs, their fans and communities to help generate funds for the charity and raise awareness of its cause.

The football league’s chief executive Neil Doncaster said the SPFL Trust already carries out a huge amount of excellent work in partnership with the 42 professional football clubs in Scotland, to create positive opportunities at the heart of their communities.

“Now the SPFL wants to extend its charitable activities by appointing an Official Charity Partner of the League each season. In doing so, we can use the Scottish League Cup to help charities raise funds and generate awareness of their cause to millions of Scottish football fans around the world.”

Applications are open until midday on 05 December. They can be submitted by email to info@spfl.co.uk or by post to Official Charity Partner Application, SPFL, Hampden Park, Glasgow G42 9DE.

The successful charity will be announced in the middle of next month.
