30 years of Payroll Giving

Recent figures confirm that more needs to be done to promote Payroll Giving, with the recent decline in donors.

The figures show that the number of donors for 2016/2017 down from 1.113 million in 2015/2016 to 1.093 million and donations down £2 million from £131 million to £129 million. The figures come as the scheme celebrates 30 years of operation, and the raising of £2 billion since its start.

In the current climate where traditional ways of fundraising have disappeared and new methods have evolved (see Charity Times editorial in this issue) and with recent media scrutiny and criticism of fundraising tactics, the efficiency of the scheme remains a major advantage.

A new report was issued to MPs ahead of the Queen’s Speech by CAF, recommending each government department promote Payroll Giving.
