Charity Commission board member reappointed

Culture Secretary Karen Bradley has reappointed Mike Ashley as a Charity Commission board member.

Ashley was appointed to the board in October 2014. His reappointment runs from November through to 31 October next year.

A member of Barclays’ board, Ashley is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants’ standards committee, and a member of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants.

He was formerly head of quality and risk management at KPMG Europe. Ashley has more than 20 years’ experience as an audit partner for several large financial services groups, most recently HSBC Holdings and Standard Chartered.

Charity Commission board members are remunerated at £350 per day. The board is currently chaired by William Shawcross, and comprises Laurie Benson, Eryl Besse, Orlando Fraser QC, Tony Leifer, Paul Martin, Catherine Quinn, and Ashley.
