First CEO of Welsh Social Enterprise Coalition

John Bennett has been appointed the first chief executive of the newly formed Welsh Social Enterprise Coalition.

The Welsh Social Enterprise Coalition intends to be widely recognised as the legitimate voice of the broad social enterprise movement in Wales.

It has an ambitious business plan, for which it has the financial support of the Welsh Assembly Government.

John Bennett said: "I am flattered, excited and indeed honoured to be appointed as the Coalition's first CEO."

Bennett has been general manager and managing director at the award winning Pack-IT in Cardiff for over 16 years since 1994, as well as being chair of Social Firms Wales, and has grown the business from a very modest beginning to a group turnover of over £1 million.

Social Justice minister Carl Sargeant said: "Creating the Welsh Social Enterprise Coalition, and appointing John Bennett as Chief Executive are important steps in implementing the Welsh Assembly Government's Social Enterprise Action Plan.

"John Bennett has a wealth of experience in the social enterprise field, and I am confident that he will bring energy and enthusiasm to this crucial new role."
