The Institute of Fundraising has appointed two new trustees, Jo Swinhoe, director of fundraising and marketing at the Alzheimer's Society, and Gill Raikes, director of fundraising at the National Trust.
The two new trustees have been co-opted onto the Institute's trustee board to strengthen the board's ability to deliver its strategic aims and objectives.
Two thirds of the board are elected by the membership and up to one third can be co-opted to add complimentary skills, experience and knowledge.
Institute trustees stand for three years and can be co-opted for a further three-year term.
A professional fundraiser for 15 years, Swinhoe has been director of Fundraising and marketing with the Alzheimer's Society since 2005, having previously been with the NSPCC and charities local to her home in Sheffield.
Swinhoe is a member of the Institute's Convention board. She presents on fundraising, organisational strategy and management regularly both in the UK and overseas.
Gill Raikes joined the National Trust in the 1980s as a junior press officer. Since then, she has managed the charity's Neptune Campaign, introduced several national events and fundraising activities, such as a range of donor programmes, and managed the new and growing regional fundraising team.
Since 2001, she has been director of Fundraising. She was awarded a lifetime contribution award by the charity sector in 2008.
Paul Amadi, chair of the Institute of Fundraising, said: "I am delighted to welcome Jo Swinhoe and Gill Raikes to the Institute's board of trustees. They are both highly respected experienced and skilled fundraising practitioners and will be an asset to an already strong trustee board."
