IOF announces Hurd to speak at National Convention

The Institute Of Fundraising has announced that newly-appointed minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd is confirmed as the keynote speaker at the opening session of its National Convention, which will take place over a three day period from 5th-7th July.

National Convention is the Institute's flagship event, bringing around 1700 fundraisers from all areas of fundraising together over a three day period.

Lindsay Boswell, Chief Executive of the Institute, said: "We are proud and delighted that the Minister has accepted our invitation to speak at this important event. We look forward to hearing more from the Minister about what the Big Society means for the voluntary sector and how we can help deliver it. As Shadow Charities Minister, Nick Hurd showed a heartfelt commitment to our sector and a willingness to listen to our concerns. We look forward very much to welcoming him to our Convention and to working with him in the future."

Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd said: "The 'Big Society' is at the heart of our vision for change. People, families and communities will be actively supported by the Government to drive the change that matters to them.

"Key to this is our aim to make it easier for charities to flourish and to work with them to galvanise our culture of giving and philanthropy. I look forward to hearing from the fundraising community at their National Convention."
