Speaker Profile: Janet Thorne

Janet is the CEO of Reach Volunteering, a national charity which connects people who are willing to donate their expertise with those charities that need it. Last year, charities recruited over 3,500 trustees and volunteers through Reach’s service. Janet became CEO of Reach in 2012, and has led Reach through a digital transformation to an online, self-service model. Janet has worked in the public, private and voluntary sectors, and roles have included Finance Director for a start-up recruitment agency, micro-credit advisor for a co-operative in Burkina Faso, credit union development, and youth and community work. Janet believes in the power of collective action, in peoples’ care and concern for others, and that we all have a part to play in creating a sustainable and just world.
