Speaker Profile: Aditi Thorat

Aditi Thorat is the Director of Development at the International Budget Partnership (IBP), where she leads fundraising and partnership strategies to strengthen IBP’s global impact. She joined the organization in 2025, bringing two decades of leadership experience across philanthropy, international development, and social justice.

Before joining IBP, Aditi was the Director of Fundraising at the Global Commons Alliance, a coalition of scientists, philanthropists, civil society groups, and businesses working collectively to safeguard the global commons. She also served as Director of Development at Global Witness and the Thomson Reuters Foundation, where she helped build multi-million-dollar partnerships advancing human rights, climate action, and independent journalism.

Aditi launched her career in Mumbai with a pioneering social and environmental justice movement led by slum communities. She went on to serve as Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, where she worked on state-wide anti-poverty initiatives spanning education, social security, and water conservation. Later, as Chief Operating Officer at the EdelGive Foundation, she leveraged private capital to strengthen Indian nonprofits tackling systemic challenges.

She serves as a member of the advisory board of Aangan Trust in India. Aditi holds a Masters in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford, where she studied as a Chevening Scholar supported by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
