v, the independent charity at the forefront of volunteering, today announced Volunteering Works, a new web-based tool which enables companies to offer, implement and measure volunteering opportunities across their organisation.
The Volunteering Works initiative is in response to increasing demand from UK businesses to play a bigger role in building resilient communities as well as support employee development, engagement and retention.
Over the past few years, interest in volunteering has increased dramatically with nearly seven out of ten UK adults volunteering in the last twelve months.
However, with 100,000’s of UK businesses lacking any form of official volunteering programme, v is building on the success of its cutting-edge volunteering hub, vinspired.com, with over 100,000 visitors every month, to launch a new digital platform Volunteering Works.
Volunteering Works enables organisations to capitalise on the demand for volunteering, while measuring and showcasing the impact it has on their business.
Terry Ryall, chief executive of v, said: “Volunteering Works is all about creating a big society. It’s what we do. Over the last four years, we’ve worked with over 200 businesses and 500 charities to create over 1 million volunteering opportunities in the UK.
"Volunteering Works is the next step in the evolution of volunteering, enabling businesses of all sizes to get on board and drive a workforce which is more economically and socially active.”
In light of the Government’s aim that community and voluntary organisations should be less dependent on the State, Volunteering Works is a great example of how v as a charity is diversifying its funding through developing its existing products for new markets.
v is committed to helping businesses embrace volunteering within their organisations.
