Passionate about Pride? Then why not be one of our Trustees

Manchester Pride, the charity which exists to help celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT+) life across Greater Manchester, is looking for new Trustees to join its Board.

Who are we?

Manchester Pride is a multi-million pound turnover not-for-profit organisation committed to creating a city – and a world - where people are able to live and love free from discrimination.

We bring people together to help celebrate LGBT+ life; campaign for equality; create opportunities for engagement and participation and fundraise to enrich and empower LGBT organisations, charities and communities across Greater Manchester. We are most famous for our annual programme of events.

What makes us different?

We help LGBT + people and allies celebrate and campaign in a very different way. We do this through our distinct programme of events which help people come together, be visible, be heard and express themselves. Our signature event is the Manchester Pride Festival held over August Bank holiday which sees more than 50,000 people descend on the city to be out and proud.

What impact could you make as a Trustee?

As a Trustee you’ll be responsible for the strategy and governance of the charity: things like setting our direction, ensuring our Chief Executive Officer and their team have the resources they need to achieve our aims and, crucially, ensuring we remain compliant with charity law and best practice.

What skills do you need to have?

It goes without saying, you should share our charity’s aims and feel you can make a contribution to our future, but you will also be:

● comfortable operating within a diverse Board of Trustees
● confident scrutinising a multi-million pound budget and
● not afraid to step-out of your comfort zone to take an informed view of issues which may not naturally be your area of expertise
● able to demonstrate some form of previous Board experience (desirable)

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with a professional background in law, human resources or finance.
