People with disabilities, their carers and families around the UK are set to benefit from the Community Fund's latest round of strategic grants.

The four organisations who have received grants from the Community Fund are: Contact a Family awarded £819,220, Canine Partners for Independence awarded £370,000, The Disabled Workers Co-operative Limited awarded £155,696 and Independent Panel for Special Education Advice awarded £154,643.

Diana Brittan, Chair of the Community Fund says: "2003 is the European Year of People with Disabilities and to date this year the Community Fund has given over £47 million to a variety of organisations who help disabled people.

"This latest round of grants continue to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to disabled people and are a perfect example of lottery money making a difference to peoples lives.

"The projects we have funded today are fantastic organisations that are helping these people play a fuller role in society and live as independently as possible. Their carers and families will also benefit from our recent funding."
