TECHNOLOGY DONATION SITE LAUNCHES ALERTS BY EMAIL 23/09/03

Charities can now sign up to receive free email newsletters on the very latest donated IT equipment which is available on the Donate A PC website.

Donate A PC receives donations of PCs and other IT equipment for charities and, since launching there have been Pentium PCs, laser printers, Apple computers, PC monitors and other equipment donated.

Ivan Wainewright, one of the site founders, explained: "The newsletters now mean that charities do not have to continually re-visit the site to find out what IT equipment is currently available."

The site was set up because there are many people who would like to give their old and un-needed computers to a charity but for various reasons they cannot do so through one of the standard recycling organisations.

For donors, the service is primarily intended for people who only have one or two computers they want to donate, or for anyone who can't find a recycling organisation who will take their unwanted equipment.

The site also includes tips for charities on what they should consider before accepting a used computer and articles on what donors should do before donating their PC to charity.
