ONLINE PAYROLL GIVING TO BENEFIT SMALLER GROUPS 1/09/03

Justgiving has launched a new online solution that could help smaller charities take advantage of payroll giving.

Employees whose companies sign up for the service will be able to choose from more than 600 charities online. According to Justgiving, by decreasing reliance on Professional Fundraising Organisations (PFOs) the service is also likely to benefit smaller charities.

"Too often, companies and employees are guided by PFOs, who typically encourage fundraising to be directed towards the larger charities," said sales director David Brocklebank, speaking on the launch of the service today. "Justgiving allows employees to select the charity of their choice without any pressure from the PFO, and in their own time."

As well as directing more money to smaller charities, Justgiving also hope the web service will encourage more companies to participate. Smaller firm may find it easier to sign up to the scheme online, and lower administration costs are promised for medium sized and large companies.
