FILM COMPETITION FOR GROUPS WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE |

Digital
broadcaster BSkyB is offering ten charities the chance to highlight their
work for free by having a short film developed, produced and aired on The
Community Channel.
This is the first phase in a Sky initiative called "Make It Big",
which aims to build a three-year partnership with one, or a consortium of
charities.
Any group working with young people aged 11-19 is invited to pitch an idea
for a short film to showcase their work, and the chosen ten will have their
ideas developed into three-minute films to be premiered on The Community
Channel this summer, at an estimated value of £30-£50K each.
One charity from the 10 will then be selected as Sky’s partner for the next
three years in a new charity partnership to support young people.
The partnership is part of Sky’s wider commitment to inspiring and supporting
young people through its Reach For The Sky initiatives, which offer 11-19
year olds inspirational and fun ways of achieving their potential and focusing
on their futures.
Ben Stimson, head of corporate responsibility at BSkyB, says: “The charity
partnership that we develop from the ten films will have a further value
of at least £1m to the charity partner.
"However, we are looking for a charity that will generate innovative
ideas such as employee fundraising, cause related marketing and further
broadcast opportunities to ensure that the value actually far exceeds this.”
