The
Education Network (TEN) has announced plans for a one-day conference tackling
issues of social exclusion within the education sector.
Entitled "Social Inclusion and School Improvement - Making It All Add
Up", speakers at the conference will include Ivan Lewis MP, a minister
at the Department for Education and Skills, and David Bell, Her Majesty's
Chief Inspector of Schools.
With social inclusion central to the national agenda for education, and
identified by the government and Ofsted as a priority for local education
authorities (LEAs), this conference is aimed at those working in education,
councils and other agencies on social inclusion.
There will be a range of workshops on specific school improvement and social
inclusion topics, and the opportunity to learn from the 20 LEAs which have
participated in the Social Inclusion Learning Network established by TEN
in January 2003.
The event takes place on Wednesday 10 March, from 9.30am to 4pm at the Royal
Institute of British Architects in London.
