The Charity Commission has announced that it is to hold its first open board
meeting as part of its commitment to openness and accountability.
The public meeting is a result of recommendations in the 2003 Strategy Unit
report, Private Action, Public Benefit, which suggested that the commission
should hold not only these but also open AGMs.
The board meeting
will be held on 29 September in London, and is an opportunity for both
the third sector and the public to see first hand how the commission’s
governance and decision-making processes operate.
Those wishing to attend
should apply for a ticket at least a week in advance. For details of how
to apply visit www.charitycommission.gov.uk
via the link “About the Commission”. Minutes from this and
other meetings, plus board agendas and papers will also be available on
the website from the end of the September.
