| The
Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator is calling on Scottish
charities to have their say on the future of the Scottish
sector by taking part in a consultation over the new charities
test.
Charity representatives have until 13 November to sign
up to take part in a series of focus and user groups to
discuss the new test faced by Scottish organisations. The
sessions will begin in early December and are part of OSCR's
ongoing campaign to gather the sector's opinions on the
timescale and process of the 'Rolling Review'.
The test will examine every existing charity in the Scottish
registry to decide if they deserve charitable status. OSCR
plans for the review to be an on-going project, providing
a detailed and accurate registry made up of accredited charities.
“Our aim is to generate as much discussion and feedback
as possible,” said Marieke Dwarshuis, OSCR’s
head of charities. “The Rolling Review represents
the most fundamental examination of charitable status in
Scotland and it is therefore essential that those in the
sector play their part.”
