The Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, has expressed his
support for the Compact, reminding statutory bodies of the
original London Compact principles signed in 2003 and urging
more organisations to sign up to it.
Speaking at the One London One Compact conference, organised
to “celebrate the achievements of the Regional Compact
Working Group”, The Mayor said that the third sector
played an important role in “giving a voice to the
many groups that make London such a diverse and socially
inclusive city”.
“Since signing the original London Compact I have
been given new powers on a range of policy areas, from housing
to climate change, health to culture and sport which will
open up further opportunities for partnership working with
the third sector,” he said. “I am committed
to involving as wide a range of Londoners as possible in
decisions that will affect their communities.”
