Institute seeks legacy fundraising working party 03/11/05

Fundraisers, consultants and lawyers with considerable experience of legacies are being invited to join the Institute of Fundraising’s Working Party for its new Code of Practice.

Outlining best practice for charities engaged in legacy fundraising, the current Code of Fundraising Practice: Legacy Fundraising, is to be revised to include details of the full legacy process, including administration, management and fulfilment of a gift. It will also be updated with information about new legislation.

Jonathan Parris, director of the Legacy Promotion Campaign, said: “As legacies raise over £1.3bn for charities each year, best practice is absolutely essential. The revised Code will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst for charities looking to raise the standard, fluency and efficiency in all aspects of their legacy fundraising process”.

The Schema for the proposed revisions has been published on www.institute-of-fundraising.org.uk. Expressions of interest to join the Working Party should be sent to Codes@Instituteoffundraising.org.uk by 25 November, 2005.
